Our staff are currently working
hard to bring you an interesting, fun, information packed weekend featuring
knowledgeable presenters from a wide range of paths. Brian WalshBrian Walsh works as an accredited Spiritual Care Provider in an urban hospital setting, and serves as a Pagan (Celtic and Reconstructionist) chaplain at the University of Toronto. Brian holds a B.A. in Celtic Studies and Religious Studies at the University of Toronto (1992), and an M.Phil. at the University of Wales (2000). His book, “The Secret Commonwealth and the Fairy Belief Complex” (2002), is based on his thesis about fairy beliefs in Early Modern Scotland. More recently he has continued his personal and professional development by taking courses through the Toronto School of Theology. Brian has had the privilege of guest lecturing at the Annual Conference of the American Academy of Religion (1996), the University of Toronto (2010 and 2011), and the Annual Conference of the Canadian Association of Spiritual Care (2011). He also provides, or participates in, open rituals and presentations in the local community, at pagan conferences and festivals, and through the UofT Multifaith Centre. He is also on the Board of Advisors for Cherry Hill Seminary. Additionally, as a licensed Wedding Officiant, Brian is able to perform legal weddings in the province of Ontario. In the past 3 years, she has shared her interests as a backyard astronomer in Basic Astronomy for Pagans, which eventually developed into a 3 part series of workshops. Dalian has studied many esoteric traditions and practices over the years while being primarily focused on British Traditional Wicca Dalian will be presenting the following workshops at Mystic Roots Conference 2012: Dark Night of the Soul: : Sailing the mystical waters towards the destination of our darkest hour; Engaging the Primal Heartbeat: Tapping the mysteries of the drum from past to present. Drew McLeanDrew was born in Chatham Ontario. Currently I he is graduating from King’s University College with a Sociology Major and Social Justice and Peace Minor and from Western University with a Film Studies Minor. Drew was involved with the Intercordia Program at King’s which consisted of traveling overseas for 4 months in the summer of 2010 to live with a host family in the Ukraine. The program is an experiential learning experience where he lived first hand in a second or third world country (Ghana, Nicaragua, Honduras, Bosnia) while volunteering in the local community. While in Lviv, Ukraine he volunteered at a L’Arche which was founded by Jean Vanier and is a place where people who have disabilities can be accepted as people instead of being seen for their disabilities, and given a chance to empower with their abilities. Social justice issues are a huge interest to Drew. Drew will be presenting the following workshops at Mystic Roots Conference 2012: The Paradigm Shift Project: Screening and Discussion Fox & TameikaFox and Tameika have been practicing together for 15 years, and Tameika even longer. They are the founders and coordinators of Spirits of the Earth Festival, Founders of the “Mhorag” Coven founded in 1999, and a public face in the mystical community. Appearing in numerous media spots including newspapers, magazines, Radio shows, and Podcasts, Tameika & Fox strive to bring the local pagan community together to create unity, within peace and harmony. Tameika and Fox have made it a priority to include activity into their everyday lives. With years of experiences behind them involving both fitness, and nutrition, we are ready to help the community realize that it is easy to incorporate fun activity on a daily basis, to create a more balanced, happier YOU! Fox & Tameika will be presenting the following workshops at Mystic Roots Conference 2012: Opening Ceremony; Closing Ceremony; Stempunk Lounge & Dinner; Raffle Draw Jason BellchamberJason has been Goldsmithing since 1990. What started as a hobby soon developed into an apprenticeship under three different goldsmiths, and he has developed many of his own personal metalsmithing techniques. Since 1995, Celtic Artifacts have been his passion. Their design and history serve as an exploration into his own heritage. Jason is very interested in rediscovering the ancient techniques, which the Celtic Metal-smiths and Artisians used to create their masterpieces. Jason will be presenting the following workshops at Mystic Roots Conference 2012: Pictish Cresent V-Rod; Meanings of Celtic Knot Design Jeff & LeslieRev. Leslie Cabot Armstrong HPs and Rev. Jeff Cabot Sutton HP have been studying with Rev. Laurie Cabot HPs for over four years and have been initiated into The Cabot Kent Hermetic Temple of Salem, Mass U.S. They are counselors/spiritual advisors and are the first certified teachers Of the Science of Witchcraft 1-First Degree of the Cabot Tradition. In Canada, Leslie and Jeff have followed the old ways for many years, before finding, their path in the Cabot Tradition. Jeff & Leslie will be presenting the following workshops at Mystic Roots Conference 2012: Introduction to the Cabot Tradition John "Corvus" HuculiakJohn “Corvus” Huculiak (B.A. R&C, accredited Spiritual Care Worker, Diviner, & Dharma Teacher) is a Romani Wayfarer, who is part of the Earth-based Spirituality movement in Canada; wearing many hats – Legal Wedding & Ritual Officiant, Divination Practitioner/Omnimancer, and Spiritual Care Visitor. John is currently delving into the mysteries of Fatherhood. “10,000 books will never equate to a third-rate teacher”. John will be presenting the following workshops at Mystic Roots Conference 2012: Meditative Tea Ceremony; Intensive Tarot: For Diviners and Self-Discovery; The Role and Rules of the Trickster JulianJulian has had an avid interest in astrology since his boyhood and has read, studied and taken classes periodically. As a follower and practitioner of a traditional style of witchcraft, Julian began his interest in the craft as a solitary, then took classes with traditional groups, attended open rituals, events and continues a discipline of esoteric studies in witchcraft, magick, astrology and various forms of divination, including the Ogham alphabet. Much of his craft includes an astrological perspective with a focus on lunar and planetary influences for workings and rituals. Julian has taught basic astrology and does astro charts and readings occasionally. He has written a few good public rituals, a coven liturgy entitled "Sacred Shadow" and is a peripheral member of the Odyssean community in Toronto. He attends rituals and events whenever possible and works with an elder of lineage on a regular basis. He lives in south western Ontario where he works as a musician in various disciplines. Kimi BoisKimi Bois has been studying aromatherapy for 13 years. She is also now formally studying to be a Certified Aromatherapist. She is also building a business called Gypsy Scents where she can offer specialty blended aromatherapy products. Kimi will be presenting the following workshops at Mystic Roots Conference 2012: Chakra Therapy Using Essential Oils; Natural Healing Through Time; Ayurveda with Essential Oils MC (Marie-Christine Perron)MC has been deeply involved in heathen and pagan community in Southern
Ontario and Quebec for over 20 years. She holds a B.Sc. in anthropology
(University of Montreal), and is a Githia (priestess) of the Asatru faith.
She has run the Barrie Pagan Pub Moon for many years, is a key organizer
within SiMuCOR (Simcoe Muskoka Coalition of Old Religions), and a founding
member of the Wayfarers' Kindred. She currently lives in Innisfil, ON
with her husband and a her unruly pugs. MC will be presenting the following workshops at Mystic Roots Conference 2012: On Oaths and Oathing: A Heathen's Perspective Mike LutzMike is a modest and knowledgeable Viking, that travels northbound from his busy little homestead in Chatham, ON where he resides with his beautiful, yet fierce wife, and four children. Mike’s greatest quality is loyalty to all of his kinfolk which is powered by a big heart. You can typically find him reading, playing rugby, practicing martial arts, drumming around the fire, offering a full horn to sip from, or providing rune readings. Mike has been an Asatruar for 4 years, and is new to sharing his knowledge with our community. Mike is also affectionately known as “Sheepdog”, because he can usually be found watching over his “flock” to ensure everyone is safe, happy, and getting along...which are a few of the great traits that he brings to his role as “Head of Security” for the Mystic Roots Conference. Mike will be presenting the following workshops at Mystic Roots Conference 2012: Nine Noble Virtues Paradigm ShiftParadigm Shift London is a growing youth initiated community that encourages and supports open-mindedness, healthy living, and the evolution of consciousness. In 2009 it originated as a club within Fanshawe College, London, Ontario. Along with the episodes of Sight Beyond Sight, there are regular community meetings in various locations across London that anyone is welcome to come out to. Paradigm Shift London is designed to encourage people to speak their minds and ask questions about topics that are commonly less talked about in public. The casual community social meetings are a foundation where people can talk, listen, learn, and meet new like-minded people. Topics of discussion range from science to mysticism and beyond. Brendan Culliton and Friends will be presenting the following workshops at Mystic Roots Conference 2012: Paradigm Shift Phil HartmanPhilip C. Hartman is an instructor at the London Gnostic Centre in London Ontario. and has been a member of the Gnostic Centre for over three years. The London Gnostic Centre is associated with the International Gnostic Association for Anthropological Studies (I.G.A.A.S.), a group founded on the gnostic teachings of the Venerable Master Samael Aun Weor. The London Gnostic Centre is a non-profit organization open to everyone, without distinction. She teaches throughout the Midwest, and her organization, Ringing Anvil, offers an intensive educational program in the transformative arts of community leadership, ritual, and spiritual growth. With 13 years experience as a leader in grass-roots organizations and as an artist, writer, designer, and marketing strategist, she has organized conferences, themed events, and created rituals, shrines, and art installations. She is a graduate of the Diana’s Grove leadership and ritual arts program and the Chicago C3 leadership program in environmental sustainability. Her addictions include Rumi, red wine and dancing, and they all come together to teach her valuable lessons about the universe. Thalia will be presenting the following workshops at Mystic Roots Conference 2012: Our Eastern Inheritance Tiffany LazicTiffany Lazic (B.A.A., R.I.H.R., CRRM) is a holistic psychotherapist and spiritual counselor. She received her degree in Film Studies at Ryerson University and her psychotherapy training at the Transformational Arts College of Spiritual and Holistic Training in Toronto where she also taught in the College’s Discovering the Total Self Program, Spiritual Psychotherapy Training Program, Spiritual Directorship Program and Esoteric Studies Program. She also served as a staff psychotherapist and case supervisor. Tiffany is one of the co-creators and co-organizers of Kitchener's annual SPARKS Symposium, an event dedicated to presenting the many varied paths for those “Seeking Passion, Adventure, Renewal, Knowledge and Spirit” in an interactive, experiential event. She is the owner of The Hive and Grove Centre for Holistic Wellness and Gifts for the Soul shop, one of the facilitators of "Hive" programming, Global Community Director for Celtic Reiki, Hearthmother for the Sisterhood of Avalon’s Kitchener-based Aelwyd am Gwenyen Arian Novice Hearth and has a private therapy practice. Tiffany will be presenting the following workshops at Mystic Roots Conference 2012: Shifting the Now: Creating current change and future building through past-life inquiry, bardo awareness and karmic regression; Shifting the Now: Tools and Practicum UrsaRosaleen (Dawn) Bellchamber (aka 'Ursa') has been Pagan for 21 years with a background in British Traditional and Modern 'eclectic' Witchcraft, as well as Heathenry, with additional interests in Hermetic philosophy and modern Druidry. She's married, a mother, a university student, tarot and rune reader; and very honoured to be speaking at the Mystic Roots Conference. Ursa will be presenting the following workshops at Mystic Roots Conference 2012: Our Western Inheritance Witchdoctor UtuWitchdoctor Utu is the founder of the internationally renowned Dragon Ritual Drummers and the Niagara Voodoo Shrine. He is also a member of the New Orleans Voodoo Spiritual Temple. The Niagara based temple has carried on and shared the Carolinian forest magik akin to the freedom seeking slaves that made the pilgrimage to Niagara, via the Underground Railroad led my Harriet Tubman. The Niagara Voodoo Shrine has traveled across international borders to share and bring awareness to the North American Voodoo traditions, with New Orleans at the epicenter.
